GSP An Post Pay Proposal – Ballot Result

06/May/2026

Description

I wish to advise you of the outcome of the ballot of CWU members on the An Post Pay Proposal, which I am very pleased to advise our members have accepted. Confirmation of the result, with 86.7% voting in favour from a very high turnout, is outlined in the attached document from our independent Auditors.

I have written to An Post today confirming acceptance and requesting that they make early arrangements to apply the increases and pay retrospection as early as possible.

This pay agreement will provide certainty in earnings terms for our members at An Post. However separately, our Union’s focus now moves to the obligations on government to respond to the higher inflationary costs for workers fuelled by recent Budgets, and the government’s willingness to cave-in to narrow sectoral demands, instead of a fairer and broader response to support workers and their families. In this regard, we fully support the demands of ICTU.

Pay Agreement 2026/2027

  • The two year pay deal commences on the 1st January 2026 and expires on the 31st December 2027.

2 % increase effective from 1st January 2026.

1%  increase effective from 1st July 2026.

2%  increase effective from 1st January 2027.

  • A €650 Voucher, pro rata for part time staff, will be issued in October 2026.
  • During this period there will be no new cost increasing claims permitted.

Pensionability

Pensionable increases will be applied to the pensionable pay scales as per the agreed Pension Agreement.

– 2% pensionable increase from 1st January 2026

– Up to 2% pensionable increase from 1st January 2025 subject to CPI for this year.

Given acceptance of the pay proposal by our members, the Union expects the agreed pensionable increase will be paid to retired staff subject to ministerial approval.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of members and convey my appreciation for their support in acceptance of the pay proposal.
