GSP 12-18 Clerical Managers Salary Review

27/June/2018

Description

You will be aware from Conference in Killarney discussions between the Union and Company would take place in May with a view to finalising the Clerical & Admin Managers Salary Review. The Company presented its proposals to the Union’s Sub Group, following which they sought the views of the Managers’ Branches.
Regrettably, the CWU must express its profound disappointment with the Company proposal, which it has unduly delayed for a considerable period of time. This delay is a breach of previous Company commitments contained in the LRC agreement and more recently the Labour Court Recommendation. Such tardiness has resulted in Managers expressing a lack of confidence of the Company’s willingness or ability, to conclude an acceptable agreement within a reasonable time frame. Consequently, the Sub Group has determined that the advancement of this issue to an acceptable outcome is the sole priority in respect of the areas comprehended by the scope of the exercise. To this end cooperation with the proposed new Business structure will only be achieved when the Union is satisfied the Company is prepared to cut a deal on this long outstanding matter.
In respect of the specifics of the Company pay review proposal, the Union is both disappointed and concerned the Company has advanced the very same failed model, previously rejected by the CWU. Clearly the Company has ignored the strongly held views expressed by the Union.
The Company approach thus far in respect of performance related pay for Pay, Pay Progression and Pension has made such a model impossible to accept. Indeed the more recent decision by the Company to deny payment on the Company performance is reprehensible, given the remarkable turnaround in performance. In the event the Company position remains unaltered, the Union will, without undue delay, refer the matter to the WRC/ Labour Court.
The Union position is that it will not accept pay proposals that seeks to treat Clerical & Administrative Managers, in a less favourable manner to the DSM’s remuneration, which was concluded with the assistance of the Labour Court.
The Executive Council will review a report from the Sub Group at its July meeting and I will revert to you further as soon as possible to update you on how the discussions progress.
