The Union regularly receives queries from members regarding their entitlements under Maternity Legislation, together with concerns at the manner in which some maternity related issues are dealt with by some managers at the Company. Following detailed discussions with An Post Senior Management, a new policy and procedure document has been agreed.
The agreed policy will assist both managers and staff to plan and organise in a structured and planned fashion throughout the period, during pregnancy, maternity leave and the return from maternity leave.
A copy of the policy is attached which in summary covers the following:
• Legal entitlements
• Maternity and Maternity related leave
• Payment during maternity leave
• Impact on terms and conditions of employment
• Risk assessment and health and safety leave
• Returning to work
• Communication and confidentiality
