GSP 09-19 CWU Regional Officers

12/June/2019

Description

You will be aware that Johnny Boner CWU Regional Officer recently retired, and I wish to take this opportunity to wish him and his family the very best. We sincerely thank him for his sterling work on behalf of the Union. Arising from this the CWU has reviewed with An Post the organisation structure, taking into consideration the existence now of two separate business units, i.e. Retail and Mails & Parcels.

The Union is very pleased to confirm that the outcome of this review, accepted by the National Executive Council, enables the following resource and support for Branches to be put in place effective immediately:

Bill Colfer  – Mails & Parcels South East/West

Jarlath Heneghan – Mails & Parcels North East/West

John Tansey – Retail/ Clerical Admin

The CWU Regional Officers will report directly to the CWU National Officers dealing with issues at An Post and perform work as directed by CWU Head Office, to include:

  • Responsible for processing all Grievance & Disciplinary cases at Area Office level.
  • Assist Branches with matters in their respective area.
  • Visit each Branch once a year to ensure effective organisation/administration of the Union’s Structure.
  • Ensure all Postal workers are members of the CWU.

This resource will be of invaluable assistance to the CWU and indeed An Post, which will enable us continue to provide the very best service to our members.  Both Bill and Jarlath are loyal members of the Union which they have demonstrated in the various positions held within our organisation. There is no doubt the skills and talents they have acquired previously as Coordinators will assist them in successfully fulfilling their new role. John Tansey will become a dedicated CWU Regional Officer in Retail. He will also have responsibility for Clerical Admin across An Post.  In conjunction with these changes and to ensure maximum input for Clerical stream members a Sub Group is being established for clerical representatives. Branches are invited to submit nominations by Monday 1st July 2019. There is no change or impact to the Branch structure.
