GSP 08-21 Annual Leave 2021
08/March/2021
Description
Given the ongoing impact of COVID 19 we have had further discussions with the Company in relation to the manner in which the taking of annual leave will be managed.
Annual leave for employees whose leave year is 1st January to 31 December
- We previously confirmed agreement that any leave carried over from 2019 into 2020 should be taken by the end of June 2021, and this remains the position.
- Any leave carried over from 2020 into 2021 must be taken by the 31st December 2021. Normally this leave must be taken by the 30th June 2021 but we have exceptionally agreed this can be extended to 31st December 2021.
- In addition to the above all employees must, at a minimum, take 80% of their 2021 leave year entitlement, by the end of the year, subject to the following:
- 5 days leave by the end of May (inclusive of Easter shut down days)
- One leave period of a minimum duration of two continuous weeks (10 days leave) during the course of the leave year, excluding the 5 days to be taken by end May
- Any balance (inclusive of Christmas shut down days) to be taken by the end of December 2021.
This does not preclude the taking of a continuous leave period in excess of two continuous weeks at any stage during the year where an employee with sufficient leave wishes to avail of same and management are satisfied to authorise it.
Annual leave for employees whose leave year is 1st May to 30th April
Any scheduled leave to the end of April 2021 cannot be deferred and must be taken. Where the scheduled Winter Leave period was previously deferred by an employee it should be rescheduled to be taken by them by Friday, 19th November 2021. Any leave carried over into the 2020/21 leave year is due to be taken by Friday,19th November 2021 at the latest.
Please bring the above to the attention of all members.
