GSP 06-19 Pay – An Post
07/May/2019
Description
I wish to advise you of the outcome of discussions on Pay with An Post.
Subject to acceptance by the Group of Unions, An Post is prepared to offer an increase of 2.5% for a period of 12 months with effect from the 1st May 2019.
The National Executive Council has decided to recommend acceptance to members for the following reasons:
- The 2.5% pay increase reflects pay settlements elsewhere.
- This standalone increase is not linked to cost saving measures, as applied previously.
- The commencement date, 1st May 2019, is the earliest date possible, from the conclusion of the last pay agreement.
- The pay deal is for 12 months, which enables the Union to progress further pay claims from the 30th April 2020.
- It provides certainty for members, by not having to refer to a third party i.e. the WRC/Labour Court.
- In the event the proposal is rejected, the company has outlined the offer would have no standing.
The NEC has decided to conduct a ballot and is recommending acceptance to members. In this regard, ballot material will be posted to each member shortly.
Ballot Papers should be returned to the Union’s Auditor by 12 noon Wednesday, 29th May 2019.
I would encourage all members to give careful consideration to the proposal and return completed ballot papers within the timeframe provided.
