GSP 05-26 Reproductive Health Policy

12/February/2026

Description

I am pleased to advise that the CWU and An Post have agreed a Reproductive Health Policy which has been launched in the EXO. This policy provides a foundation for supporting employees through various reproductive health experiences, including menstrual health, pregnancy loss, fertility, surrogacy, and male reproductive health.

Key features of the policy include:

  • Compassionate support for pregnancy loss: Up to five days’ paid leave for the person who was pregnant: up to two days for a partner/surrogate.
  • Fertility treatment leave: Up to ten days’ paid leave (employee) and up to five days (partner), with the option to apply retrospectively to protect privacy.
  • Surrogacy supports: Including 24 weeks’ fully paid leave for the primary caregiver and two weeks for a supporting caregiver/partner.
  • Confidentiality-first approach: Health information handled only by HRBP/OHS, with manager training as above and signposting to EAP and supports.
  • Maternity coaching up to 3 sessions pre or post maternity leave.

The CWU believes that this policy is extremely important for our members who are going through what is a deeply personal part of their life. Reproductive health is a workplace issue that can have a significant physical, emotional, and financial impact. A clear, supportive policy covering these health issues signals that both the CWU and An Post recognises these experiences as real, valid, deserving of care and not something employees have to navigate in silence.

The full policy is available on the company intranet and the Post People app.
