GSG 17-25 Branch AGMs

07/November/2025

Description

The CWU organisation across the country is preparing for Branch Annual General Meetings for 2026. These meetings enable Officials, National Executive Council members, and Worker Directors to attend to hear first-hand, the views and concerns of members.

It also presents the ideal opportunity for members to influence the strategy we adopt to deal with the challenges ahead. This is particularly the case for the upcoming AGMs as we will hold the CWU Biennial Delegate Conference in May 2026. We have issued the details governing the running of conference in a separate communication.

In accordance with CWU Rules, Branches are required to hold an AGM each year, before the last day of February. Branches must receive prior permission from Union Head Office to convene an AGM after this date.

The Branch Treasurer is required to prepare a financial statement of the income and expenditure of the Branch for the twelve months ending 31st December. The AGM approved Branch financial reports should be sent to Fan Ryan at fan@cwu.ie.

An Post Worker Directors are also available to attend Postal AGMs and can be contacted as follows:

Keith Butler    keith.butler@cwu.ie

Paul Kennedy  paul.kennedy@cwu.ie

Deirdre Medlar  deirdre.medlar@cwu.ie

Ellen Moore    ellen.moore@cwu.ie

To enable the Officials/NEC members attend as many AGMs as is possible, it would be appreciated that invitations to attend your AGM are submitted to Union Headquarters by Wednesday 14th January 2026. Please email  the details to patkenny@cwu.ie.

I appreciate your assistance in respect of the above.
