GSG 02-23 National Childcare Scheme

10/January/2023

Description

Enclosed is an information circular from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth relating to increases in the National Childcare Scheme subsidies from January 2023 which may be of interest to members.

Anyone accessing Tusla registered early learning or childcare services may now avail of a minimum National Childcare Scheme subsidy of €1.40 per hour.

There are two types of National Childcare Scheme subsidy available for children aged between 24 weeks and 15 years of age, as follows:

Universal Subsidy
This subsidy is not means tested and provides €1.40 per hour towards the cost of a registered early learning or childcare service, up to a maximum of 45 hours per week.

Income-Assessed Subsidy
This subsidy is means tested and will be calculated based on the applicant’s individual circumstances.

Applications for the NCS can be made online using a MyGovID at ncs.gov.ie

Alternatively, a paper application can be requested by phoning (01) 906 8530

Given the current cost of living crisis, we would strongly encourage any members with children under 15 years of age, availing of early education or childcare services, to make an application.

Please circulate this to all members in your Branch/Section.
