GSE 06-22 Pre-Retirement Course

Description
As a result of a motion adopted at Conference, the Union submitted a claim to the Joint Conciliation Council, seeking eir to provide a pre-retirement course for staff. Following extensive discussions, the CWU has secured agreement that the company will fund pre-retirement courses.
The company will launch a retirement course in July 2022, available to eir staff approaching key retirement milestones in the company. This course will be made available each year over the coming years.
As part of this programme, employees will be invited to attend a company funded 1 day retirement course as they turn 59 and 64 respectively.
The course will be organised by Pat Murphy, in conjunction with eir HR and the eir pension’s team. The first course, ‘Retirement and Life Planning’, will kick off on the 26th July 2022 in the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, Dublin. Invites will be issued shortly to staff in scope for the first retirement session; a second course will be run in October to accommodate the remainder of staff in scope for 2022.
This has been a long-standing matter of concern for members and the CWU welcomes the positive response by the company to our representations. The development is most welcome, as it recognises the importance of preparing for a new life after a long career as well as an acknowledgement of loyal service to the company.
