GSE 05-20 Changes to Annual Leave Process in context of COVID-19

28/May/2020

Description

The Joint Conciliation Council (JCC) has agreed to changes to the annual leave process as outlined in the attached.

The detail of the new provisions are in the Agreed Report but in summary it requires staff to take 60% of their leave by 30th September 2020. In addition, up to 10 days leave can now be carried over to next year if 60% of leave has been taken. The reason for this measure is to ensure staff can maintain and use their leave in these exceptional
circumstances.

It is important that staff avail of their annual leave and have a fair opportunity to do so despite the situation we find ourselves in and the company have accepted the need to increase the amount of leave that can be carried over on that basis.

These changes are temporary and have been agreed to by the CWU in the context of the current pandemic which has
created a unique and unprecedented challenge around taking annual leave.
