GSE 03-20 COVID-19 Update
30/March/2020
Description
Following the government’s announcement on Friday 27/03/2020 the CWU would like to remind/inform members of the following:
1. Telecommunications is classed as an essential service and “must be operated within public health guidelines”
2. Social Distancing is essential. We know that the required distance (2m) can be difficult to achieve in home or on some worksite locations. The message is very clear if social distancing cannot be achieved we ask members to leave the site, contact their line manager and move to their next job/task.
**Note it is confirmed that operators will continue to include relevant health and safety questions as part of their provisions appointment and fault triage processes and to flag any concerns in the provisioning request or fault report. It is essential that members confirm this in their pre-call to the customer. Members should also advise the customer that they will be implementing physical distancing while on site.**
3. The supply of essential equipment, (gloves, wipes, etc) has improved. Where there is a shortage the member must contact their line manager to ensure supply is delivered promptly.
There is an onus on all members to comply with HSE guidelines.
Again we thank members for their efforts during this difficult time. Things are changing every day and hour and we in the CWU will make sure that changes impacting our members will have their health and safety to the forefront.
