06/July/2026

Description

In accordance with the An Post Transformation Agreement as outlined in GS Circular 9/23 and 22/23 the Company continues to examine the possibility to engage third party suppliers to perform Cleaners and Patrols’ work.  The Transformation Agreement also contained provision for the following options for members working in these areas:

  • Retirement at their normal retirement age.
  • Option of moving to other locations in Dublin.
  • Redeployment to other roles within An Post, subject to availability and suitability.
  • Voluntary Severance

Following further discussions with the Company, they have advised us as follows

Dublin DSU Consolidations, GPO Closure & DMC

Given the impending closure of the GPO HQ, DSU consolidations in Dublin and staffing review at DMCs, An Post is examining redeployment and voluntary severance options for cleaners and patrols. In this regard they will carry out an Expression of Interest (EOI) process to determine interest in VS or redeployment –

The redeployment options available are

  1. Relocation to a similar role in another office or,
  2. Redeployment to a suitable vacant role in another grade, e.g. Postal Operative, Clerical role

Following the above exercise is completed the company will review options for Provincial DSU’s, Branch Offices and Support Offices.

The Company will issue a communication to staff the week commencing the 13th July ‘26, advising the expression of interest’s forms will be issued electronically, providing instructions on how to access it and where to get assistance. There will also be an option for staff who are less comfortable filling it in electronically, to contact the Helpdesk for support.

The Options Form will be available online week commencing 20th July. We have agreed that staff will have one month to consider their options and complete the form. Following completion of this process we will meet the Company again and we will update Branches following that meeting

Please bring the above to the attention of members, particularly those in the relevant grades, and we will keep you informed of developments as they occur.
