GSP 20-26 Postal Branch Structure

Description
As reported to the Biennial Delegate Conference, the revised postal branch structure was successfully implemented earlier this year following detailed consultation with Branches.
The agreed changes introduced a county based structure for delivery staff, a Regional Clerks Branch and consolidated Managers Branches.
Following on from the inaugural AGMs, the union held training seminars for Branch Chairperson, Secretaries and Treasurers. We have also held Branch Committee training.
Branches, with the assistance of the CWU Regional Officers, are focusing on membership recruitment and representation. The recruitment of new members is especially important now with ongoing recruitment in the Commerce section.
The National Executive Council has decided to review the effectiveness of the revised structure to ascertain if any further assistance or support is required.
Branches are invited to make a submission outlining their views and suggestions under, but not confined to, the following areas:
- Effectiveness of the new Branch Structure
- What has worked particularly well?
- Is there any part that has not worked well?
- Communications with Union Head Office
- Branch Standing Orders effectiveness
- Finance
- Training
- Time Off/Release
Branches are requested to submit their views by the 9th October 2026.
