GSP 02-20 Pensions – An Post

I refer you to GS Circular 08-19, issued on the 12th June 2019 in respect of pensions in An Post.
At the time we advised that a 2.5% pensionable increase would apply to pensioners that retired in the Postperson grade, prior to the 16th January 2006, i.e. the commencement date of the first phase payment date of the C&D Change Allowance. This increase arises from the Union’s success in having 2.5% of the Change Allowance consolidated as an additional increment for the Postal Operative grade. The Company had indicated arrangements would be put in place to pay the increase in September 2019. The effective date for the increase is the 1st January 2016.
Regrettably, approval for the payment was delayed by officials at the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment, for reasons which are not acceptable or understood by the Union. However, following direct engagement with Senior management in An Post, the Company has confirmed it will pay the increase and arrears on the 7th February 2020. I have no doubt this badly needed increase will be welcomed by our Pensioner colleagues.
