You may be aware that on November 19th we celebrate International Men’s Day and the important contribution that men make to the world of work, to their family life and to society.
The theme for International Men’s Day this year is “Better health for men and boys” and so it is an opportunity to highlight men’s wellbeing. Research has shown that there has been a deficit in the area of men’s health for various reasons and accordingly there is a clear need to raise awareness.
To mark the day the CWU is encouraging our male members to consider their own mental and physical health, and to take the appropriate time to focus on this important issue. We ask our members to engage with your occupational health services or your own GP to get the supports you need to towards a healthy lifestyle. You can also find further information on www.malehealth.ie
We would also encourage our members to avail of our mental health courses on our online learning platform on www.unionlink.org
Wishing you all a very happy International Men’s Day!
