Description
Eircom Superannuation Scheme members are due to receive a pack outlining details of a “Preliminary Poll” where they will be asked to vote.
The information is provided in very legalistic terms and it may not be clear what is occurring and I want to provide some clarity.
This ballot follows the triggering of a Statutory Instrument (Section 62 of the Pensions Act, 1990) to select persons for the appointment as Trustees.
The CWU is surprised that this legislative process was triggered, given that there are pensioner members on the Board of Trustees of both funds already, but we want to help clarify what the best course of action is.
The ballot provides for:
– Standard Arrangement
– Alternative Arrangement
The CWU is strongly supporting the Alternative Arrangement, and the Executive is strongly encouraging all Eircom Superannuation members to vote for the Alternative Arrangement.
This arrangement will ensure “One of the four member-side positions will be reserved for a pensioner member.”
The CWU will retain three trustee positions on the Main Scheme and two trustees on the No. 2 Fund.
