The Communications Workers’ Union is calling on our members to show nationwide support for the student-led #ClimateStrike international day of action on Friday 20th September 2019
If members are in a position to attend any of the major rallies or one of the local regional actions, please make every effort to stand in solidarity with the students.
Below are the details of the main marches and rallies organised by school students themselves.
- Dublin: Gathering 12:00 at Customs House, marching at 12:30 to Merrion Sq, rallying 13:00 – 14:00 at Merrion Sq. in front of Govt. buildings
- Cork City: Gathering on Grand Parade St. from 12:00, marching at 12:20
- Kerry (Tralee): Meet at County Buildings, at 9am
- Clare (Ennis): Meet at The Height, O’Connell Square at 9am
- Drogheda: Demonstrating from 13:00 outside St. Peter’s Church, West St
- Galway: Demonstrating from 13:00 – 16:00 in Eyre Square
- Navan: Demonstrating from 13:00 – 15:00 at the Market Square
- Limerick: Marching from Arthur’s Quay Park at 13:00, finishing at City Hall
- Dundalk: Demonstrating from 12:30 – 15:00 in the Market Square
- Kenmare: Demonstrating from 9:00 – 13:00 outside the Courthouse

- Share the call to action on your social media using the hashtag #ClimateStrike and follow @FFFireland and @SCANIreland on Twitter
- Climate Proof the Workplace – Ask employers what climate action they are taking
- Lunchtime gatherings, meetings and lobbies on the day to talk about climate action
- Inviting students involved in the movement to address Branch meetings and to write articles for trade union publications
- Calling on members to show support for the strikers using solidarity posters and pledges
