Congress Friday Briefing: Demise of the Community Development Sector

The Congress April Friday Briefing will look at how the community sector and progressive forces within the State were defeated.  The Briefing will focus on the role and contribution of working class activism in Dublin and will be given by Patricia Kelleher, Researcher and Pauline Conroy, Social Policy Analyst.

The Briefing will discuss the  means and sequence of how the neoliberal agenda emerged victorious in the governance of community development, anti-poverty and equality in Ireland.   It will also look at the mechanisms used by the state to close down and silence a vibrant sector and a public debate on poverty, equality and community development.

For those who are interested in attending this Briefing on Friday 12th April at 10.30am, please confirm your attendance by emailing Eileen Sweeney in ICTU:  eileen.sweeney@ictu.ie
