One Direct

Welcome to the section of our website which is dedicated exclusively to serving the interests of our members in One Direct. This section is a resource designed to provide you with useful information and regular updates on issues which the CWU is pursuing on your behalf.

One Direct Ireland is a wholly-owned subsidiary of An Post which offers car and home insurance product, as well as life assurance products and credit cards. The CWU has been representing One Direct staff on a collective basis for several years now and, in conjunction with a very active local union committee, has been very busy in recent years as One Direct was transferred into a new financial services company, Postbank, before being transferred back to An Post.

During this time the Union and the local committee negotiated a comprehensive pay harmonisation agreement which led to an increase in the basic salaries for One Direct staff and, in conjunction with this, the Union negotiated an improved annual leave entitlement for the staff. When One Direct was being transferred back to An Post, the local union committee was heavily involved in discussions with management on the implications for One Direct staff arising from this transfer and worked hard to ensure that members’ concerns and interests were properly addressed and protected throughout the process.

The growing CWU membership in One Direct is represented by the local committee which is comprised of Shop Steward, Carmel Hickey, Veronica McLoughlin, Gillian Flynn, Mary Collin, and Deirdre Egan. Carmel Hickey was also successfully elected to the National Executive Council, the main decision-making body within the Union in 2010.
