BT Ireland
Welcome to the section of our website which is dedicated exclusively to serving the interests of our members in BT Ireland. This section is a resource designed to provide you with useful information and regular updates on issues which the CWU is pursuing on your behalf.
BT Ireland is part of BT Group which is one of the world’s leading telecommunications companies. BT Ireland operates on an all-island basis, North and South and has in the region of 3,000 employees.
The CWU has been representing BT Ireland staff on an individual basis for a number of years now, but the company has, to date, refused to allow the CWU to represent staff on a collective basis. Whilst BT Ireland staff in Northern Ireland enjoy the full benefits of trade union representation, the company refuses to allow its staff in the Republic of Ireland to enjoy the same rights and entitlements. The CWU continues to campaign on behalf of our members in BT Ireland to have this position changed and in the meantime the Union is fully committed to representing our growing membership base an individual basis whilst continuing to provide them with ongoing advice and guidance on the continuing changes that take place within the company.
The CWU has a committee of volunteers within BT Ireland who help the Union to inform and grow its membership base. In addition to this the CWU works closely with its fellow unions in Northern Ireland which represent BT Ireland staff in an effort to ensure that all BT Ireland staff will one day enjoy the benefits and protection of collective union representation on an equal basis.
Our aim is to develop this site to meet your needs so please let us know how this can best be achieved. Any ideas regarding the type of information that might be usefully provided are welcome.
