ETUC Day of Action - Protest at European Commission offices, Dublin, Wed Feb 29TH

AUSTERITY ISN’T WORKING

The Executive Council of Congress has agreed to actively participate in the ETUC Day of Action on February 29th 2012. The action to be undertaken here will consist of a protest picket staged outside the European Commission offices on Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 (Dawson Street end) on Wednesday the 29th from 12.45 – 2pm.

The theme is ‘Austerity is Not Working’

The focus of our action is on the social and economic effects of the crisis and is a call for action on JOBS & GROWTH. The objective of the activity is to mobilise members in Dawson Street to form a picket at European Commission offices.

Congress will provide materials for participants to carry and wear. All materials will be branded with the slogan “Austerity isn’t Working” in black and orange, and will include CONGRESS & ETUC logos . These will include:

High visibility waistcoats
Placards
Five foot high, individual letters and numbers: JOBS & GROWTH 440,000
Leaflets for distribution to passers-by

A statement may be read at the protest but there will be no other speeches.

Unions are requested to ensure a good turnout for the protest. Assemble at 12.45.  Action from 1pm. Please make sure that we have people there to create a big  impact at 1pm.
